Rebounding machine Ryan Young gave his commitment to Chris Collins and Northwestern on Wednesday afternoon, his AAU coach Tony Sagona told Elevate Hoops.

The 6-foot-10 prospect spoke highly on the Wildcats as he looked for the best fit both on and off the court.

“I loved the campus and the city right next to it,” said Young when asked about his decision. “I loved the coaching staff and most importantly, I loved the mix of high academics and competitive basketball. One like no other.”

Young touched on what he will bring to their program both offensively and defensively.

“I think I’ll fit in nicely offensively,” said Young. “A big man that can pass, shoot, and dribble. Defensively, I’m going to work to get my lower body stronger throughout the year so I can contribute on that side of the floor as well.”

What’s next for the Pennsylvania native?

“Mainly just getting stronger,” said Young. “I think I have the skill to compete at the level but (I) need to get bigger, stronger, and faster.”
