Four-star guard Will Richardson of Oak Hill Academy has committed and signed to the University of Oregon, he tells Elevate Hoops.
“University of Oregon,” said Richardson when asked about his decision. “It’s just a great situation for me and they talked about me coming and playing right away. I can have a great chance to start and I built a great relationship with the head coach and one of the assistant coach.”
His family and other coaches he spoke to thought it would be a great fit for him as it will match his style of play.
“My dad felt like it was the right program, I felt like it was the right program, and a couple of my coaches thought it was the right program,” said Richardson. “It fits my style of play and with the recruiting class we got, I feel like we can come in next year and make a great tournament run.”
Richardson noted that Oregon jumped into the mix a bit late but stated that the staff had constantly been on him. He touched on his relationship with the coaching staff and how his official visit went back in September.
“I formed a great relationship – He (Dana Altman) started recruiting me a little later than other schools but he didn’t miss a week without calling me and he tried talking to me every week and the assistant tried talking to me at least two to three times a week. Then, the visit was great. It was a great atmosphere and I went to a football game. They have great facilities and my mom liked the area and it was just great all together.”
The 6-foot-4 Oak Hill Academy guard gave his thoughts on Oregon’s 2018 class as Dana Altman has brought in a tremendous amount of talent.
“Right now, Lou (Louis) King is a great wing and he’s like a crafty scorer and can score at three levels. Then, Miles Norris is really athletic forward who can score when he needs to and block shots and hopefully we’ll add more pieces to the class.”
