Class of 2018 prospect Nate Roberts has committed to Washington, he tells Elevate Hoops.
“I chose Washington because of the close-knit family environment everyone had from the coaches to the players to the staff and that was one of the key components I was looking for,” said Roberts about his decision.
Roberts has a strong trust within the staff and believes that they will guide him in the right direction going forward.
“Coach (Mike) Hop (Hopkins) and I have a great relationship and he has been a believer in me as a player and person since my recruiting has taken off and now that he’s the captain of the ship, it makes things a lot better when the head coach is on your side.”
When Roberts took his official visit to Washington he enjoyed the experience, as everything was new to him.
“The city was beautiful, the campus was really nice, and the people I met treated me like I’ve known them for years. It was a really good experience being the first time going over there.”
At 6-foot-11, the Brewster Academy and Team Melo product believes he will have an impact on both ends of the floor.
“Being able to affect the game in different ways,” said Roberts when asked what he can bring to the team. “I keep the defense on their heels because they have to figure out a way to guard me and helping the guards out by being able to switch to cause more havoc on defense.”
