About one month ago, 2017 wing Austin McCullough of Portage Central (MI)/Greenwood Elite had zero division one scholarships to start his spring/summer basketball and on Thursday, he committed to Wyking Jones and California.

The Golden Bears’ staff seems to have a great relationship with the 6-foot-5 wing and a plan for him as well.

“The coaching staff is really experienced and coach (Tim) O’Toole and coach (Wyking) Jones really put an emphasis on how I could immediately contribute with the way I shoot the ball,” he said. “I love their competitiveness and their attention to detail.”

Originally from Alabama, the 3.97GPA student is ready for his future at the next level.

“I’ve always thought I could play at a high level,” he stated. “But a program like Cal really got me excited. It makes me want to be the best play I can be by embracing the challenge of this conference,” he added.

The Elevate Hoops platform has helped the Greenwood Elite wing as he stated, "It helped me a lot. They were very well run tournaments with great competition."

McCullough now joins Justice Sueing, Juhwan Harris-Dyson, Deschon Winston, Grant Anticevich, and Boise State transfer Paris Austin in the 2017 class.
