2018 point guard Spencer Freedman had a solid weekend at the Nike EYBL this past weekend in Indianapolis, Indiana as California Supreme finished with a 3-1 record. The crafty point guard recorded 17pts, 8asts against Team Final (PA), 12pts, 7asts, 3rebs, 2stls against the Oakland Soldiers (CA), and 10pts, 10asts, 2stls against Phoenix Phamily (AZ). The 6-foot-0 guard spoke on his overall game, developing as a player, Bol Bol, and the latest surrounding his recruitment.

Obviously the goal is to get better everyday; what are you currently working on right now to develop and expand your overall game?

Right now, I’m working on a lot of strength and speed stuff and just working on my body mostly.

When it comes to your game, what do you think some of your strengths are?

I’d say shooting, ball-handling, passing… a lot of the offensive things. I’m definitely working on a lot of the defensive things and I’d also say my leadership is a quality because I help everybody get to where they want to be.

With your teammate being Bol Bol during the high school season and AAU, how does that help you and what is the experience like to you?

It’s incredible, for me, being able to play with him (Bol Bol). Because he can catch everything and he can hit shots from anywhere so as a point guard, it’s a dream, you know. You can just go to the basket and toss it up to him and he’ll go there and catch it and if we need a three, he’ll go there and hit the shot. He’s an incredible talent and a great kid, which makes it better.

Jumping to recruiting, what are some of the schools that are coming after you the hardest in your opinion?

Washington, USC, UCSB, Harvard, and Rice.

What do you like about Washington and their staff?

Washington… I really like their coach. Coach (Mike) Hopkins actually went to Mater Dei so we have a pretty good relationship. He’s really nice and obviously it’s his first year so I’m sure he’ll do an incredible job.

USC is obviously hometown… right near home and we see them a little more often because of that. I really know their entire staff pretty well. Coach (Andy) Enfield is just incredible.

Santa Barbara just got a new coach. I’ve known Coach (Joe) Pasternack for a little while and he’s a really, really, really good coach and I really like him a lot and we also have a good relationship.

Harvard’s been saying a lot of things and I also know their entire staff pretty well too.

I know Rice’s entire staff as well. Coach Scott Pera is a LA (California) guy and I’m getting to know their staff more and more.

When it comes to visits, Freedman stated, "I've been on a few visits but for right now, I'm now quite sure what I'm going to do."
